The Private Eye - looking closely and thinking by analogy with jeweler's loupes and inquiry method for hands-on interdisciplinary science, art, writing, math, and more

Free Class Loupe Set and Teacher Guide!

Series VI Giveaway announcement!
The Facebook submission period for the Series VI image has ended and the random drawing has taken place.

The hand reached into the submission bag…

Oops! We’re getting ahead of ourselves just a bit. We want to first say that we were tickled and transported by all the comments. How apt the William Blake line: “To see the universe in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower.” Reading through the associations was akin to experiencing a collective mind. Kerry Ruef, founder of The Private Eye Project, often says this about the process: “Each person in the group is a magnifier for the rest of us.”

By the way, photos can be captivating to look at paired with The Private Eye Questions—and necessary for the web—but loupe-analogy studying the three-dimensional world is far more intense, intimate, and wondrous!

…So as we were saying, the hand reached into the bag, shuffled around the entries and pulled one out, a folded green card with a name on the inside. The name, and the recipient of The Private Eye Teacher Guide and Class Loupe Set, is: Julie Paulling Bjugan! Congratulations Julie! And thank you to everyone who helped make this a delightfully collaborative experience.
